Presentation

It is with great commitment, pride and sense of responsibility that the COC – Orientation Club of the Center applied to carry out this great organizational challenge and bring another international Orienteering event to Penamacor, Terras de Lince.

PIOM 2021 is a Orienteering event, which will consist of 3 stages, one of them counting for the World Ranking of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF WRE), integrated in the ranking of the Portuguese Cup of the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (FPO), open to people of any age, being able to participate in competition classes or open classes, individually, in pairs or  groups.

Of its stages, two will be daytime, middle distance in the forest, and the third one a night sprint in an urban environment, in a village from Penamacor Council, which may have the winners’ times above the traditional 15 minutes for the sprint.

The forest stages will be on terrain with good progression, with good technical cut due to its relief and the many rocky details. For the urban stage, the chosen village, with its web of streets, alleys, staircases and granite slabs, has the potential to provide you with a pleasant and challenging stage.

The PIOM will consist of the following events:

      • February 17th to 19th 2021 – Model Events;
      • February 20th – Middle distance (WRE candidate) – Carvalhal;
      • February 20th – Sprint Urban Night Race – Pedrógão de São Pedro;
      • February 21th – Middle distance – Carvalhal;

The final classification of the PIOM will be defined by the sum of the points from the 3 competition stages.

For the POF ranking, only the 2 forest stages will count.
