Model Event

These maps were used in POM 2016, PIOM 2018 and PIOM_CIMO 2019 (sprint), being terrains very similar to what athletes will find in the 3 PIOM 2021 stages.

Maps will be available during POM 2021 near the COC team for sale, subject to the availability of printed maps. Maps may also be deliver on POM 2021 if you have done a previous reservation when registering for the race. They will also be available in Penamacor, at the secretariat, on the 19th of February, Friday from 09h00

The control points will be materialized on the ground by an orange tape duly identified by the number.

Price per map: 4 €.

World Ranking Event

The Middle Distance stage on February 20 (day 1) is World Ranking Event (WRE);

Elite classes

If the number of entries in the Elite classes is excessive for a single course, the organization will divide these classes into two. The best according to World Ranking will run in Super Elite and the remaining in Elite. The separation criteria will be the World Ranking as of 31st January of registered athletes.

Arenas

At the arenas the athletes will have all the necessary infrastructures (secretariat, finish, bar service, WC, babysitting, first aid, results, speaker, and so on.).

In the night sprint race arenas there will be no bar service.

Penamacor Sports Pavilion

Opening: Friday 19 February at 18h

Closing: Sunday 21 February at 16h

Notes:

It is forbidden to wear spike shoes inside the premises.

It is forbidden to cook and eat inside the pavilions.

PIOM 2021 bib number

The official PIOM 2021 bib will have printed the athlete’s number, name, class, SI Card ID, Club and Country;

The PIOM 2021 bib will have to be lifted in the secretariat, before the event, and the departure of any athlete without it is not allowed.

 

Control System

 

 

The control system used in all stages will be SportIdent (SI), and contactless mode (SI-ActiveCard – SIAC) is also active.

SI Card changes

SI Card changes must be requested at the secretariat, which are subject to the rate in force according to the POF regulation (€ 2 per change)

All athlete data changes must be previously validated at the secretariat so that you can start your course.

SI Card Rental

The rental of an SI Card costs € 1.00 per race, in the Competition and Training classes, being free for Open classes;

Athletes who rent SI Card will have to leave a deposit of 50 € in the secretariat which will be returned to them at the end of the PIOM upon delivery of the SI Card.

Note: The loss or non-return of the rented SI Card implies the payment / loss of the deposit of 50 €.

Safe

Athletes federated in the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (FPO) and athletes not federated but resident in Portugal or with Portuguese nationality are covered by FPO insurance.

Athletes federated in FEDO will be covered by insurance from the Spanish Federation.

The remaining athletes are not covered by any insurance.

Strat Times

In competition classes, there will be no changes to the starting time on the day of the race.

The Open Classes, D / H10 and D / H12 will have an indicative start time, so that they are distributed over the start time window. However, if they are late, there will be no penalty, as the start time will always be assigned by a “START” station.

Race time limits

Middle Distance – 2 hours

Sprint distance – 1 hour

Map collection

At the end of each course, athletes can keep their map, therefore Fair Play is requested to all participants.

Results and Awards

      • The final classification (individual and collective) of the event will be obtained by the sum of the points of the three events (2 stage of Middle and 1 of Sprint distances);
      • Prize for the 3 best clubs;
      • Prizes for the first 3 athletes in each class (5 first in M21E, M21SE and W21E classes)
      • Prize for the first 5 Male and Female Elites of the WRE stage to be played on Sunday 21st
      • All W/M10 and W/M12 runners will receive a gift, whatever their classification

For the Portuguese Cup ranking (POF athletes), only the two middle distances stages will count.

Traffic Indications

The organization will indicate the GPS coordinates of the important locations of the event, for the correct arrival of the participants to the parking.

The directions of the Parking will be duly marked by the Organization with orange and white arrows for the places where the participants have to travel on foot.

The competition is governed by the POF Competition Regulations in force, which can be accessed here:

In the event of any omission in the POF regulations, the IOF regulations will apply.

Claims

The deadline for submitting complaints expires 15 minutes after the athlete has finished the race.
